celebration party

Yestersay we held a party to celebrate our winning the second place in the drama contest.
We went to an Italian restaurant for dinner. After we ordered our meals,we started the party with watching our fabulous performance. No matter how many times I've watched, I just can't get tired of it. Our drama is so funny and touching!!
As we were having our meals, we played a game called "the king game" at the same time. Its rule is easy. First, pick out pokers cards counting on how many people play, usually we pick pokers having the same token. But notice, there must be a poker , no less, no more. Second, everyone picks out a card from the picked cards without watching. Then, person who has poker K will named one or two numbers and people who have those numbers on cards haave to do whatever the king ask them to do.
It was quite exciting, especially when there were both boys and girls. Some penalties were normal, like messaging each other or feeding each other. And some were terrible and disgusting, like licking other's ear, eating the same noodle or kissing on other's forehead( it was quite embarrasing between boys and girls) We played the game for a long time before changing to another.
In the second game, we parted into two groups. The game was about acting. Each team chose some people, and they have to perform a thing by moving their bodies without speaking. And their teamates had to figure out what they were mimicing. The team who figures out the most would be the winner. It was also a funny game. Afterwards, we played some more games and soon, it was time to go home . Although meals there weren't really delicious, we did have a good time, and we took a lot of pictures!!

A Nature Trip

This Sunday, i went to 基隆's 和平島 with my grandma, uncle and his family. Though it was sunny in Taipei, it was cloudy in 基隆. Our destination was 和平島's coast.

As soon as i got off the car, the salty smell of the sea reminded me how long i hadn't come so close to the sea.

It was really a good day for visiting the coast. Without fearing sunburnned and getting cold, we had a very wonderful afternoon at the coast.

The sea was calm and peaceful. Waves came and went rhythmedly; snowy sprays danced and cheered happily. Carved by wind, rain and sprays, rocks of srange shapes and sizes dotted the shore. Not too far away, we saw and island sit in the sea and a ship moving to the horizon.

All the things formed such a breathtaking view that even a camera couldn't store its beauty.

We sat on a flat rock, listening to the song of the sea, of nature until it was getting darker and darker.

Oh, what a refreshing nature trip!!!

Dram Contest

After nearly a month’s practice, the drama contest was held on the last Sunday.

Our topic was about a girl who could see what others are thinking, and she finally realized that the society was heavily sick. No one chased their dreams; what they caring about was only their creature comforts. But as the girl yelled out the terrible truth, everyone just ignored her and saw her as a freak.

The drama contest was the second significant activity I attended in university. We began with fewer than fifteen persons and ended up with more than thirty!!

Everyone spent lots of time and effort performing this fabulous play. During the month, we worked, had meals and laughed together. Everyone tried his/her best to conquer every difficulty we met. It was so great!!! I really felt as a member of a big family!!

As a result, we won the second place of the contest!!

We were not surprised as we put so much effort and time in it. On the other hand, even we didn’t get a prize, no one would be regret for it, because what we really cared wasn’t the result but the priceless memories we can keep forever!!

In the end, I just want to yell:
Congratulation, every drama fellows!! We are the best!!

A Creative Person

My favorite creative person is Neil Buchanan. I got to know him on one of the programs in Disney’s channel, Art Attack.
To my surprise, Neil was originally a musician instead of an artist. He used to be in a rock band called Marseille.
Neil grew up in Aintree, Liverpool. He has been interested in art since he was very young. However, when he entered the Liverpool Art College, they told him that he wasn’t good enough. As the result, he walked out without looking back.
Neil set up the program, Art Attack, about twelve years ago. And now, the program is seen in 32 countries, including six non-English speaking countries where there is a different presenter.
Whenever Neil comes up a new idea, he’ll sketch it down roughly, and his fantastic team working for the program will develop his idea and break them into the stage. His two daughters are also his helper. Neil will show his new idea to them, and if they give him a thumb up, the idea will stay in the program, and comes out if they give him a thumb down.

His program can be actually separated into two parts.
In the first one he’ll teach us how to do some little and easy art craft with easy usual materials, such as resin, expired news paper, milk bottles etc. it’s really interesting and useful when I have to make some decorations.

The other part is called “big art attack”. It’s my favorite part!!! In it, he’ll appear in a special place like a discarded house or a harbor, and then, he’ll use materials he can get from the place to puzzle a big picture. However, after browsing through his website, to me a little disappointed, those pictures have been designed beforehand. But still, it didn’t change my favor to it, after all, he will be a true genuine if he makes all those pictures right on the scene!!
From his experience, I learned that we can’t easily give up when we are defeated. We shall still stick to our thought but only change our way to present them. And also, even we’re genuine in something, we still have to listen to others’ thoughts, therefore we can do a better job than do it by ourselves.

English corner---Custom

After missing two classes, I finally went to the English corner on this wed.
The last two classes didn't actually have discussing topics; instead, they played special cards games to relax after the mid-term exams.

As I had a Chinese report last week, I skipped classes reluctantly. Yesterday's topic is about "customs". However, I didn't exactly meet cultural shocks or realize any special difference in culture when I was abroad (I have been to USA, Singapore and Japan). So, I spent most of time listening and asking questions.

From this class, what impressed me most is the origin about the Thanks Giving Day.

I used to think it as a festival for all American and a day to thank the Indians who helped them to survive in the poor environment when those pioneers first came to America. But from a Christian in my group, he told us that it's a festival for all Christians and they not only thank Indians but also the gods who protected them during their journey to the states.

Nest week there will be a speech contest held in English corner, so we won't have topic for it. And the topic for the next next week is about blogs!! I think this time I'll have lots to say!!

Shopping In Shih-Lin Night Market

I went to Shih-Lin night market with friends last Sunday.

Shih-Lin night market is one of the biggest and the most famous night markets in Taiwan. Since there is a MRT station next to it, Shih-Lin is also popular scenery spot for tourist, not only for its night market but also the Lin-Jia garden, the building which was built in Ching dynasty. The night market is known for its delicious food and the low prices for clothes.

The last time I went there wasn't long ago, but as I lack a sense of direction, I had to follow my friends to find where we were and where we were heading. The first thing we did was……of course, buying food!! We were deadly hungry as soon as we got there and smelled those attracting aromas. I bought a big steak-like fried chicken; we called it "Ji-Pai", and my friend bought egg cakes.

And then, here we "shop"!! As we strolling from one street to another, a store to the next, and a vender to another, our wallets slowly became less and there were lots bags hanging on our arms. In it were lots of snacks and clothes. Although it was a little raining, people were still crowded the streets. We had to strike our way forward XD!!

Someone had said that you must know how to bargain when you go to a night market. Unfortunately, none of us dare to!! I thought we were like "walking money" to those sellers!! Therefore, as a way to save our money, we walked a long distance just to compare prices from one shop to another!! As a result, when we finally finished our shopping and stated to go home, our legs were sore and hurt. So, we found a vender to sit and took a rest before heading home.

The most interesting thing in that day was that sometimes we could hear a voice roaring "police" and then all the peddlers would pick up all their goods and ran away, no matter whether there were still customers watching goods!! Because it's illegal to sell things in the street without paying taxes!! But still, it's still funny to see all the peddlers running away at once!!

In this time, I bought a hat, cloth, jacket and lots of snacks, and it costed me no more than NT$1,000!! It's really cheap to shop in a night marketing, isn't it??

After The Midterm Exams

Oh, so happy, my first university’s midterm exams are over!!
The testing way in university is so different from which in senior high.
On Monday, I had calculus. Before the exam, I was so worried; I just studied it for no more than a week. However, much to my surprise, although it was not so easy, it was not as hard as I thought, too. I finished it in the limited time, and still had much time left!!
Tuesday was quite busy; I had three exams in one day!! I had business in the morning and accounting and history in the afternoon. My business teacher was so kind that she let us “open book”, and the answers for nearly all the questions were just in the sheet she gave us!! But I wasn’t that lucky in the afternoon, the accounting was really hard, I spent lots of time to balance all the statements>< and I finished just on time@@” history wasn’t easy, too. It is always not my subject, and besides, I didn’t pay much attention in class XD. So what I could do was fill the paper sheet as full as I could, hope the teacher will be kind enough to give me more points….
My economics’ exam was taken on Thursday. In spite his kind-looking, the exam was hell difficult. The questions were too many and the limited time was too little. My hand was shaking so hardly that the answers I wrote were hard to recognize= =”
And today was the last day of the exam’s week. The latest subject was English. It was easy and the teacher even gave each one of us ten points for free!!
Ha ha, so happy that the horrible exams are over!! And from next week, I’ll be busy with the play contest, so exciting^^!!

Part I About the Bluemen performance
A. Transcribe the complete text.
YOUR ATTENTION PLEASE,
THANK YOU FOR CHOOSING EARTH AS A PLANETARY VEHICLE,
WE HOPE YOU ENJOY THE MANY WONFERFUL FEATURES OF THIS PLANET, AS YOU HURTLE THROUGH THE COSMOS,
PLEASE NOTE, HOWEVER,
THAT THE EVENT OF CONTINUED INACTION IN THE FACE OF GLOBAL WARMING,
YOUR SEAT CUSHION CAN BE UESD AS FLOTATION DEVICE.
ALSO,
PLEASE TAKE A MOMENT TO LOCATE THIS PLANET’S EMERGENCY EXITS,
AS YOU CAN SEE,
THERE AREN’T ANY,
EARTH, TO AMERICA!
CAN YOU HEAR?
SENDING OUT A MESSAGE,
LOUD AND CLEAR,
CAN YOU HEAR?

B. What do you think of this performance?
At first, I was a little shocked to see three blue heads on the screen. It’s the first time I heard of bluemen, and indeed, they’re quite cute and interesting. Global warming has been a serious environment problem recently. As climate has changed a lot, we people who are the passenger of this planetary vehicle must pay more attention on this environment issue. With the performance of the bluemen, I’m sure it will rise people’s attention to the problem─on the premise that they see the show XD.

Part II About global citizenship
A. In what ways do you think you are already a global citizen?
Although I live on the small island on earth, I can browse the world with a simple click on the internet. With the modern technology, I can see the international news at home and chat with friends in other countries. And the most important of all, I know the world is not only in Taiwan, I tried my best to learn an international language to communicate with people in the world and care about events happening in the world. In this way, I can say that I’m already a global citizen.

B. How can you become a better global citizen?
I should pay more attention not only in my country but also in other part of the world. I should treat earth as treating my house, my room. In other words, I should do my best to reduce damage to earth, like taking mass transit. And also, I should see people all over the world as friends, and give help to those needed people if I can.

A Gathering Light

oh, i finally finished the book!! it doesn't mean it is boring, instead, it is

quite interesting. Mattie was the main character in the book. she was a talented writter. but since her mother died early and she was the eldest child in her family after her bother ran away, she had no choice but do part-time jobs and all the housework. however, her ambition to compose was so strong that she secretly applied to an university in New York, and was admitted. but then, she met difficulties, her father didn't let her go, she didn't have enough money and the most important thing was, she fall in love with a man, Royal. when she was suffering from whether she should go or not, a woman gave her a bundle of letters and asked her to destroy them. after few days, the woman was found dead in a lake. the story then tokd about how Mattie made her decision and how those letters influenced her dicision.

it was the first time i read about spiritual story. i usually read science fictionns and advanturous and romantic novels. at first, i tried to highlight new words as i read it, but i soon found it only ruined my interest in reading. so i gave up doing it and immediately got my interest back.

because i seldom read that kind of books, i could hardly understand the meaning in some parts of it. what impressed me the most was when Mattie being tore between whether to go after her dream or stay and marry to Royal. i put myself into her shoe and wondering which i would choose. it was hard, but i think i would choose the same decision as she did. although Royal did love Mattie but they were too different. they would surely feel happy in the beginning of their marriage, but since Royal put more attention on farming stuff, Mattie would have to give up her dream of being a writter to care for a whole family. i don't think she will feel content if she marry to Royal. she was still young, and her fututure shouldn't only be a good housewife. besides, that's her dream, she wouldn't have another cahnce if she missed this one, and i'm sure she regret for it afterwards, therefore, although the endind is not perferct, it is good to see her get into the train heading to New York!!

find and lost 1

after i paid the money by the easy card on the bus, i quickly chose a seat to sit with my friend and continued our conversation. when we were chating, the bus soon took us to the stop of MRT station.

however, as soon as i got off, i realized that i couldn't find my easy card!! " it must be left on the bus" i thought, but the bus had gone away, i could just took out my wallet to buy the MRT's ticket in change.

"oh, no, the train is going to leave" my friend shouted, and we ran down the stairs as fast as we could. but i was still a bit late, and i could just wave good-bye to my friend who ran so fast and got on the train.

therefore, i took the next one. the car was empty and i put all my stuff on the seat beside me and read the book i borrowed from my classmate.

i got home quickly since i live near the MRT station. however, much to my surprise, i couldn't find my wallet!! i searched all the pockets in my begs, and, suddenly, the easy card i thought had bring left on the bus showed up. but i didn't have time to be happy about it as my wallet was nowhere to be found!!

in the end, i thought it must have being left on the MRT= ="

i'd like it is the easy card i lost instead of my wallet, because there were some important cards in it and also three hundred dollars!!

Newie Seminar

On this weekend, I attended Aiesec's Newie Seminar. It was held at Chinese Culture uni. I wasn't planning to attend the activity previously, since I was not sure whether it was right the club I wanted, and I was afraid it would be a waste of time and money.

The assembling time was 7:20, so I had to get up at 6:00. But I overslept and got up at 6:30. I was really in a rush, and I couldn't even have my breakfast!! thanks dad for driving me to the MRT station, therefore, I could be on time and didn't have to go to the university by myself.

The first friend I made with was Nancy. Although I found out that she had graduated from university lately, I thought she was easy to get along with. We got there at about nine o'clock, and the activity started at about ten o'clock( so, why do we have to wake up so early= =")

" work at day and party at night" which is what Aiesec believe in. therefore, we had lessons nearly all day. I felt like that my bottom was glued to the chair, and ate one meal after another without a slightly movement!!

The lessons were to introduce what Aiesec is and what are the members of it doing. However, since I didn't have enough sleep, I kept dozing off, if not afraid of being taken pics, I might have rested on the desk…..

What impressed me most during this activity was the Miss party held in the first evening, it was a game to help those chosen men from each team to look like girls. , as it was a game to make everyone to feel" uncomfortable", the result was obvious, we did feel "uncomfortable" ><,

and then it was the beer game. Although I didn't joined it , I cheered and screamed loudly as my teammates filling their stomach with beer and the moment we won the game. With many people half drunk, the final show, Aiesec dance, started!! In spite of my poor dancing skills, I still had a great time to exercise after a whole day's sitting!! On that night, I was so tired that I fell asleep as soon as I hit my bed. Next day, we still had a lots of lessons, and I still dozed off sometime. But what depressed me most was that although some trainees did come that day, our team didn't have the opportunity to talk with them, oh, why couldn't we???? The activity came to an end at about seven o'clock. On this weekend, I couldn't exactly tell what I've learned since I daydreamed a lot (shame on me>///<), but I did make with friends with students from other schools, and it is the best I got from this activity!!

english corner

on wednesday, i attended English corner's course that my school set recently. it was a course for our students to have a place, time and an opportunity to practice speaking english!!

since i couldn't find anyone to go with me on wednesday, i went by myself.

i spent quite a while to find the class, couldn't blame me, although it was at an easy-spotted place, it didn't like a classroom at all. there were a bar and sofas and even a balcony!!

we prated into three groups, and each one had a leader. my leader was a graduated student named Connie. she's really a good person, if not her, i doubted that we could have such a wonderful time!!

since it was the first class, we started from introducing ourselves. after that, we talked about some normal questions like, what's your favorite food, what's your hobby, etc. it was really interesting to speak english as it was our mother language, (of coz i couldn't speak it as fluently as speak chinese><)

some of my group's members were really shy, but i believed it was just a matter of time, and they'll be speak out loud as time goes by!!

our next week's topic is about travel, ooo~~i can't wait
